New Pokemon Abyss Eye incoming this May!
The next Japanese Pokemon Trading Card Game release, Abyss Eye, is scheduled to launch on 22nd May, and while official details are still limited, the name alone is already generating a lot of excitement.
As with many early-stage Pokemon TCG announcements, we’re currently in that familiar phase where only fragments of information are available. There’s no full set list yet and no confirmed chase cards, but historically, this is exactly when the most interesting speculation begins, because Japanese set names are rarely random.
What we do know, is there is a very strong posibility that Darkrai will be the poster Pokemon for this set which might indicate that this set will have a dark vibe to it, and we are all for it.
To get some excitement going, we thought we'd look back to the XY days to CP5 and this awesome old school Darkrai.
Update: 22/04/2026
Another welcome addition to the Abyss Eye updates is a brand new Mega Excadrill ex! With just a month left until release, we're hoping to see some of the juicer chase cards from this new set.... Question on everyone's mind is: What is that Mega Darkrai SAR going to look like! We are in uncharted waters with not a lot of points of reference so exciting times ahead. But as ever, will expectations be met?

Update: English/International Release Confirmed
The English version of Abyss Eye has been confirmed with the name 'Pitch Black' spooky right?
As we seem to have moved away from Japanese subsets in recent times. How are customers finding the new smaller international sets?
Well, for this one. Seeing as Mega Darkrai is a new concept, that seems to be drawing all of the attention. There are no official reveals as of yet (07/04) but the Japanese release is due in a little over a month on 22/05 with the International release due 17/07 which is just 2 weeks before the Japanese Mega Rayquaza (Storm Emeralda) release at the end of July.
